Electronic Al‑Anon groups may, through group conscience and following Area procedures, choose to request an Area transfer. This means the group will have to request to join another Area and will give up participation in the Area where the group is currently registered. This is agreed upon by Assembly vote from both affected Areas.

Electronic groups that are part of the Global Electronic Area (GEA) may request to transfer to a geographic Area if the geographic Area has a process in place to accept electronic groups. The geographic Area must appear in the drop‑down menu for the request to be initiated. This electronic transfer process will remain in effect until the GEA has developed links of service to support the formal Assembly approval process.
