A Big Hello to everyone—I have been in the program for many, many years and it is just recently that I now fully understand any kind of addiction and the lasting effects it has on another person. I would like to encourage anyone who is trying to deal with any type of addiction to never give up as the right answer will come and change you. Lots of Love
My son is 21. I worry so much about him. I am borderline obsessed. I don’t know the difference between worry and love. I can’t stop telling him what to do, and I’m not ok if he’s not ok. He has grave and mental and emotional disorders. It’s been rough for 21 years. He has a job, a car, and a house…we paid for it all…codependent to say the least. We are also in recovery and I have been in Al-Anon since 2012. Why can’t I let go? I’m going crazy. I can’t keep my mouth quiet, and my head… Read more »

Has started to have an angry streak. His Sponsor feels it is fear coming out as anger.
But I have no idea what to do or how to handle it.
This is my 3rd marriage and last. He is a good man but not sure where this is coming from or how to deal with it. I have a call into my Sponsor for Al-Anon and we will meet this weekend.
I am heartbroken for my 19 year old son that just received his 2nd Dui because he says he can’t handle the stress of life. He was supposed to leave for college today to play college football. He is now waiting arraignment 9/7 and looking at jail time. I bailed him out of jail on Saturday and said I’m sorry son but you cannot live here with me and my husband anymore. You have lied to me, conned me, deceived me. I have failed you and I’m not doing you any good. This is on you now. I love you… Read more »
I am grieving for a 59-year-old daughter, alcoholism and drug use complicated by mental health issues, in and out of detox and rehabs. Now even her rehab will not take her back. Was physically abused, hospitalized and then homeless. Never sure if she is dead or alive. A private investigator found her alive but one never knows from day to day. This is an insane way to live. How does one “detach with love”?? Thank you Al-Anon for being there. No one else understands how stressful our lives can be.
My 50-year old boyfriend is a high functioning alcoholic. He hides it so well that I didn’t even realize that he had a problem for the first 2 years of our relationship. He went into rehab this past Sat. & now I don’t know how to act at the end of the 37 days of inpatient when he returns home. I’m seeing a therapist for my needs & to learn how to provide him the support he needs but I’m worried. Is anyone else experiencing this? The road has been hellish for the past few months & I’m being asked… Read more »
I’m new and am worried sick about my son Brent… he’s been drinking for years but recently like 5 months straight… no job and soon no place to live…
Hi I’m new to this my husband was clean for almost 9 years. He is now using and has walked out on his family. One day began seeing a girl who is also using. Was gone for over a month but kept in touch saying that he is sorry does not want to live this life anymore and wants to come home. After me thinking it over I did let him come back because where he was there was no way for him to get clean now that he is home and is doing an outpatient program, things are starting… Read more »
I’ve never connected, but need support. I am praying our son will get help.
I have been to Al-Anon for 12 plus years when my son first started using drugs. He is struggling now more than ever. Several trips to ER. We are allowing him to live back home to go to outpatient and I am already stressed and need Al-Anon. Having an adult son is much different than a teenager.
