Communications & Community Awareness
The Communications & Community Awareness team is responsible for directing Al‑Anon’s digital presence and cultivating relationships with professionals and community leaders who serve families and friends affected by the disease of alcoholism. Directing Al‑Anon’s digital presence includes oversight of the World Service Office (WSO) website, al‑anon.org; the creation of content and moderation of communications for the WSO social media pages; management of the Al‑Anon Family Groups Mobile App; preparation of the digital newsletter, In The Loop; implementation of process and technology improvements; and production and distribution of the WSO public service announcements. These projects share the common goal of helping the WSO and the worldwide fellowship of Al‑Anon embrace the digital age and reach generations of newcomers.
This team also manages the collection and analysis of data. An example of this type of work is the triennial Membership Survey, which provides the WSO with key insights, guides informed decision‑making, and can be used to help professionals feel confident about referring their clients to Al‑Anon. Cultivating relationships with professionals and community leaders includes attending professional conferences and helps to inform the broader public about Al‑Anon’s mission.
